St. Patrick’s Day is one holiday that most of the world enjoys celebrating. These days, celebrating St. Patty’s Day means green clothes, green drinks, and green rivers, with the loose interpretation of an Irish shamrock meets the luck of the Irish and “Kiss me, I’m Irish." The real story behind St. Patrick’s Day begins with a teenager, who was believed to be named Maewyn Succat. He was not even Irish! At the age of 16, Maewyn was kidnapped by pirates and sold into slavery in Ireland as a sheepherder. It was there that he learned the Irish language and began to pray to the God his parents had told him about. Week five of the online bible study with Melissa Taylor  brought us to Chapter 5 in the book Stressed-Less Living, Finding God’s Peace in Your Chaotic World by Tracie Miles  This chapter titled “Take Back Your Life” was filled with so much insight it’s hard to unwrap it all.  One of the sentences in this chapter that really hit me was: ·       “True faith is not passive, but active…” The Dictionary defines faith as “ complete trust or confidence in someone or something” and “ belief that is not based on proof”. The biblical definition of faith can be found In Hebrews chapter 11 verse 1. Here the Greek translation is telling us that faith is both the substance of things hoped for and the evidence that things exist that are not yet perceived with the senses. The Power of Thanksgiving - Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart

There is a song  called 'Give Thanks',  written by Henry Smith and recorded by songwriter and singer Don Moen. 'Give Thanks' is simple in it's lyrics but powerful in it's message. "Give thanks with a grateful heart  Give thanks unto the Holy One  Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son   And now let the weak say, 'I am strong'  Let the poor say, 'I am rich  Because of what the Lord has done for us'   Give thanks" I Thessalonians 5 says " 16  Rejoice always,   17  pray continually,   18  give thanks in all circumstances;  for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." So many people struggle to give thanks when life hits hard. This scripture doesn't say to give thanks FOR those trials, but to give thanks IN all circumstances as we go through them.  There is power in thanksgiving.
