The Power of Thanksgiving - New Beginnings

I am thankful for new beginnings.

The arrival of our new little granddaughter was much anticipated and long in coming. Not just the nine months of watching our daughter's belly grow, but the days of early labor and over 54 hours of hard labor, took its toll on everyone. While we all were rooting for a natural and speedy birth, our new baby was delivered to us via a C-section.

This precious new life is a gift. This baby girl, her very own name meaning 'Gift from God' reminds us all that God knows the big picture and we are just a small part of His plan. We don't know why this labor and delivery was so hard and went so long, but there is a reason that we will just have to wait to see why. For now, we are happy with this new little life.

God tells us in Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Gods plan for our futures involve many new beginnings.  Our daughter and son-in-law are starting a new chapter in their lives. This baby, once thought never to be a possibility , will change their lives forever. This new beginning will bring many trials and heartache, but will also be one of the biggest blessings they have ever experienced.

Beginnings, like Gods mercies, are new every morning. Each day gives us the opportunity to start fresh. We can wipe the slate clean from yesterdays mistakes and choose to walk that path better today. When we make a mistake, and we will make many mistakes, all we have to do is ask for His forgiveness and set our hearts on making better decisions the next time.

Rev 21:4-5 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. 5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”

How will you begin your day today or tomorrow? Start again, start with a new beginning.

    I'm so thankful for His mercies new every morning! How desperately I need them! I get to hold babies in the church nursery tomorrow, my fave day of the month. :)

    Sarah, I am enjoying having a grand baby close at hand. This new little one is our second, but our first is many, many hours away. I thank God we have technology to keep our faces in front of her so she will know us when we do get to see her.

Christmas tablescape

I enjoy creating tablescapes. Whether it is for a holiday or just a special meal with family or friends, I like making the table "special". Tablescaping is another way to express my creativity. I will see a dish or piece of art (Pier 1 is my favorite place to be inspired) and just have to buy it! I can almost see a table done with one inspiration piece. My honey gave up on me a long time ago with telling me "no more dishes" or "you don't need that" and just goes with the flow now, although I still get the occasional lifted eyebrow. I've had a few friends ask me what a tablescape is and although there is no true definition, it simply means making your table special by using props, decor and coodinated place settings to create a mood or atmosphere. Five Minute Friday - Soon I feel like I am still in the same situation I’ve been in for way too long. I have friends where I live, but I don’t feel like I have close friends. We’ve lived here for 15+ years and yet it’s my out of state friend that will call to check in on me.   It’s been tough lately.
