30 Days of Thanks Nov 10

Today was a beautiful day in NE Ohio so Dave and I took advantage of the good weather and went to Kendall Lake to hike the trails. The air was slightly cool but the hike up the hills kept us warm. During our three hour hike, we stopped occasionally to look at a squirrel or chipmunk and a pileated woodpecker teased us with his calls, taunting us to find him in the thick forest. We never did. We saw several Canada geese on the lake and a hawk screeched high up in the air as he circled overhead looking for prey.  We found a few fallen walnuts from some large walnut trees and several acorns. Dave said they fell from acorn trees.  I pointed out that they fell from oak trees, but he insisted that if walnuts fell from walnut trees, then acorns fell from acorn trees. We both smirked at the joke.

We drove home in silence as the sun was beginning to set in the west. Dave wanted to stop at a different place to hike some more, but we had spent the day outdoors and another stop would have us walking in the dark.  Tomorrow is supposed to be another beautiful day and another opportunity to hike again.

I am thankful for the beauty that surrounds us.

  It was a dark and stormy night…… Just kidding My story starts on a beautiful day in Hocking Hills, Ohio. Our family all met together down south of where I live, in the beautiful county of Hocking Hills, Ohio. My husband Dave couldn’t join us due to his work schedule.   I traveled three hours to meet up with our daughter, her husband and 3 children and our son, his wife and their four children, where we all stayed in cabins and agreed to meet up the next morning at Cedar Falls, one of the gorgeous falls in the area. Christmas tablescape

I enjoy creating tablescapes. Whether it is for a holiday or just a special meal with family or friends, I like making the table "special". Tablescaping is another way to express my creativity. I will see a dish or piece of art (Pier 1 is my favorite place to be inspired) and just have to buy it! I can almost see a table done with one inspiration piece. My honey gave up on me a long time ago with telling me "no more dishes" or "you don't need that" and just goes with the flow now, although I still get the occasional lifted eyebrow. I've had a few friends ask me what a tablescape is and although there is no true definition, it simply means making your table special by using props, decor and coodinated place settings to create a mood or atmosphere. Five Minute Friday - Soon I feel like I am still in the same situation I’ve been in for way too long. I have friends where I live, but I don’t feel like I have close friends. We’ve lived here for 15+ years and yet it’s my out of state friend that will call to check in on me.   It’s been tough lately. Emotionally anyway.   I lost my oldest brother a year ago, and I feel like I still haven’t snapped back into life as it was before. I’ve been quiet lately too, as in not mingling with my group of networking friends, or my work friends, or my church friends, or God.   I’ve been feeling down and tired.   Yet not one of my local “friends” have called or texted me to check in on me.
