Valentines Day is for the Birds...Love Birds that is!

Valentines Day is approaching very quickly. Typically this holiday comes and goes in our household with nary a nod from my husband as he doesn't "do" what he calls Hallmark holidays.  When our kids were little I would give them little gifts with lots of hearts and stuffed animals and of course sweets. Later when they were in college I would send care packages to them with a more grown up version of the same. I have also given my husband cards, chocolates and yes, even once, a stuffed bear.  But now that the kids are in their own homes, with their own sweeties, the excitement of a one-sided holiday has lost it zing.

Or has it?

This year I decided to decorate the table in a romantic theme for this soon to be neglected day.
In truth, I was demonstrating a PartyLite party at my house and instead of a typical demonstration, the hostess and I opted to show our guests how to decorate using PartyLite products. I loved that she decided toward a Valentines Day theme as I was going to suggest that to her anyway.  Great minds think alike.   I loved how it turned out!  So much so, I decided to keep it up until after the 14th. Maybe, just maybe, it will work it's magic on the man I love, despite his resistance to the idea of being romantic.  He did take the pictures for me. That's something ....  right?

Here is our table in all it's romantic splendor.

It was my sweetie's idea to add the bottle of wine for a bit more touch of romance.  I think he's been holding out on me. Maybe like the wine, it's finally his time!!

The place setting.  I loved adding a pop of red to this otherwise soft and romantic color scheme.

In the center of the table is PartyLite's Garden Sanctuary Candle Terrarium.

I wired hearts through the openings of the top of this gorgeous terrarium. The entire Glo-Lite candle inside glows when lit adding a soft glow all around.

Hershey's Kisses in this beautiful rose bowl adds more interest to the table. This bowl matches a teacup set I sent my momma a long time ago.

A bird sits atop the terrarium

Layers. See this blog for sourcing the plates.

These two love birds are getting pretty serious. Geesh, get a nest!

You may recognize these from my Christmas table this year.  These Pier 1 balls work beautifully with this color scheme. I love the glamour it adds to the table.

Glass taper holders with scentless, dripless tapers. A must for every table.

This little birdhouse has made it's debut on my table before. See this again here.

Grandma's buffet is not left out. A black feather and bird ties in beautifully with the table.

The Garden Sanctuary Wire Hurricane set by PartyLite does double duty as a wine bucket, but much more romantic. The Fluer de lis was the unexpected pop on this already passionate setting. I was glad to be able to use this unique piece from Hobby Lobby again.  See It's Your Move for the last time I used this one. Coincidentally it was last year at this time.

The china hutch reflects romance as well with this Customizable Tealight Centerpiece by PartyLite. I added silk rose petals in and around this piece as well as the table itself.

These pictures were shot by my honey during the daytime. At night when all the candles and tea lights are lit, the dining room is definitely a romantic atmosphere.

I hope you enjoyed this table, and maybe it will even inspire you toward a romantic evening with the one you love.  I'm open to suggestions for the perfect dinner to serve on this table.

  2. Hi, Mindy! Thanks for stopping by earlier this evening! That metallic touch really does bring a table alive, doesn't it? But the real question is, will it bring your husband alive for Valentine's Day celebrating??!? I was just discussing with my husband how he should be thanking his lucky stars I'm not one of those women who EXPECTS something for Valentine's Day. BUT (and that's a bigger BUT than I can print with my keyboard!), once things are smoothed out financially around here, he needs to be prepared to get back on the stick! He owes me a couple of anniversaries and V-Days! It was very nice of your hubby to photograph your table, though, so he gets points for that. :-) I love those gorgeous plates with those petal pink roses. Such a delicate design! Good idea to incorporate the Party Lite items into an actual tablescape so that people can better see how they can be utilized. Some people are very visual, so you did them a great service. Funny about the "get a nest!" comment! :-) :-) :-) I hope you have a good weekend and that Valentine's Day yields a good surprise! Take care!

    1. Hi Alycia, thanks for visiting! I try to encourage my husband in his photography and he gladly obliges whenever I ask him to shoot my tables.
I hope you and your hubby can make your Valentines Day memorable. It doesn't always have to revolve around money. Make a special meal, or light candles and watch a movie together on TV. Better yet, get a nest!! ha ha. Give him a kiss and tell him how much you love him.

      God Bless!

  3. Mindy, this IS a gorgeous, romantic table! I would never have thought to put the red chargers with that pretty china, but they look fantastic! Adding the red keeps it from being too "sweet," I think. I know your guests were inspired by all the ideas your tablescape demonstrated!

    1. Hi Tricia. Thanks for stopping by. I thought the red was a nice surprise of color and once I incorporated it was pleasantly surprised and how well I liked it. As I'm not buying as many new items for my tables these days, I'm looking for new ways to use what I already have without repeating a look I've done before. Thanks for your feed back!

      Take Care!

  4. Beyond being a beautiful table setting (as always), I think it would be more romantic if the setting was for only two people. And, where's the chocolate? lol
    Love me

    1. Dough boy, you need to look again. Hershey's on the table on both sides!! Can't forget chocolate at Valentines Day. You're right, I'll have to do a 2-place romantic setting soon, after the guest we are about to have leave...

      Thanks for always being encouraging.
